About Markland Acupuncture LLC

Board Certified Chinese Medicine Practitioner & Licensed Acupuncturist

Shannon Markland is a board certified, Licensed Acupuncturist in the state of Florida. Shannon is also a Certified Diplomate of the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. She opened her clinic in downtown Sebring in 2018.

Shannon offers an integrative health care approach in her practice. She uses acupuncture therapy, herbal medicine, and lifestyle and eastern nutrition teachings to support a patient’s well-being whether they are simultaneously engaged in biomedical treatments for their conditions or whether they are looking for an alternative route to healing.

She spent 4 years studying and practicing at the Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in Chicago, IL where she earned a Masters of Science degree in Traditional Oriental Medicine. While there, she volunteered with the Chicago Healing Justice Network to help organize and host community care nights which provided free health care consultations and treatments to individuals in need. She worked for several years at Project Vida, a community outreach clinic in a small Latino neighborhood treating patients with chronic pain disorders and trauma victims. She has also worked in Haiti with a medical organization called Friends of the Children, providing free health care and medicine to local Haitian families.

Prior to finding her healing path with Chinese medicine, Shannon spent 10 years in the education field, earning a Master’s degree in Secondary Education while working as a Social Studies high school teacher. Her clinical practice today is centered on respect and compassion for every individual. She meets people where they are at and works in partnership with them to ensure that her clinical treatments and a patient’s needs and goals are aligned to promote a greater quality of life and well-being for that person.

Here are just some of the medical conditions Shannon treats: chronic pain or pain due to acute muscle or joint sprain/strain, plantar fasciitis, arthritis and other inflammatory conditions, acid reflux, digestive and bowel disorders such as IBS, endometriosis, PMS, menstrual or menopausal irregularities, asthma, allergies, common cold, post-nasal drip and phlegm accumulation, skin conditions such as eczema/psoriasis, headaches/migraines, sleep disorders, anxiety and more.
